Speaking of helping out, we would like to share a few tips on how to make your marriage proposal photographs the best they can be. With our years of professional photography experience we know many ways to make your photoshoot stress free.

The number one thing is planning. If you want your proposal/engagement to be photographed please coordinate with your photographer. That way the photographer can be discreet and not ruin your moment. A good photographer knows how to capture the moment and not take away from your marriage proposal.

Also, pick a location that reflects your personality. Be sure to scout out the location beforehand to make sure it fits what you need. There are so many wonderful locations in the Atlanta area. I have done several at Piedmont Park. There are several beautiful city skyline views that you can shoot from depending on what you want. If you want to get on top of a building you have a couple of options. I have shot at Ventanas and the Ponce City Market Roof. Both of these locations are beautiful but you need to make reservations and pay a fee.

If you are an outdoorsy couple there are some great locations inside and outside the Atlanta perimeter. Inside the perimeter there are over 100 parks in varying size and profiles. There are also several small parks in the neighborhoods downtown where you won’t attract attention. Outside the perimeter you have beautiful rivers, streams and even mountains north of the city.

This week’s photo session is an Atlanta wedding photography classic. The couple’s wedding is in October and they wanted their engagement photos to have that Atlanta flavor by shooting at city landmarks that give that urban feel. This week’s couple is Mara and Chris. They met online and started dating right before the pandemic. They got along great and felt very comfortable with each other. They were lucky enough to find each other and put on no airs. They put on no airs, drank some beer and played video games they both love and hunkered down together. The more time they spent together the more they felt they were meant for each other and finally one of them said I love you. Which is a big word to throw out there and show what is in your heart. The feeling was mutual and two people admitted they love each other.

As an Atlanta wedding photographer I am always meeting so many wonderful people. This week’s wedding is Judith and Art. They met late in life and found love. I am not going to say how old Judith is (that is something a gentleman does) but Art is 68 and is the older of the two.

As a Atlanta Wedding Photographer, this week’s wedding is one that hits close to home. I have known the bride since she was 10 years old. Her parents were in my small group at church, so I saw her grow up and graduate college. Now she is a young woman who found a great guy and is getting married!
Megan and Jaylen met while they were going to Georgia State. They have been together for about 4 years. When Jaylen proposed to her she started planning her wedding. One thing you need to know about Mergan is that she is a planner! She contacted me about a year and a half ago. I was so honored to be her Atlanta wedding photographer.

The wedding took place at my favorite venue Naylor Hall. I arrived early to get an idea of the layout since Ryan and Kitty changed plans and decided to have the wedding indoors because of the weather. The pros at Naylor are nimble and resourceful and can adapt to any situation. I was greeted by Abby who has been working there for years and is Sunny the owner's right hand. This week’s wedding is Giovana and Cameron who finally had their wedding with their family at The Atlanta Georgia Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cameron met Giovana during his mission trip to Brazil. They had to postpone for a couple of years because of COVID and immigration issues.
Cameron contacted me about two weeks ago with a sort of strange request. He told me that he and Giovana have been married for a few months but they never had a photo shoot or a formal wedding at their Temple. Giovana wanted a few photos of the two of them in a tux and a wedding dress. We made plans to meet early Saturday morning at the Temple before it got too hot.

This week’s couple is Kristin and Daniel. I met them through my church. They approached me after service one Sunday and said that they were looking for a Atlanta wedding photographer for their wedding at Little Gardens. I was excited to say yes Little Gardens is less than a mile from my house!
Little Gardens is a hidden gem in the Lawrenceville area. It is a colonial-style venue nestled in the midst of a 7-acre estate. It has an outdoor ceremony area with a picturesque waterfall and koi fish pond. There is also a large bridal suite with overstuffed sofas and a floor-to-ceiling mirror to die for as well as a large ballroom and wrap-around bar in the reception area.
It was a weekday wedding so I left work and went straight there. The bride and bridesmaids happened to arrive at the same time that I did. As they went into the bridal room I brought out the wedding dress for a few detail shots. Also while the girls were getting ready the groom arrived with his groomsmen. We kept the groups separated until the ceremony.

Keven and Maria are this week’s couple. Keven contacted me one week before the wedding. He explained that it was going to be a small ceremony of a few family and friends while everyone was in town for the holidays.
The wedding was held at the Cherokee Town and Country Club, a historic mansion located off of Paces Ferry Road between Midtown and Buckhead. The Town Club occupies the famed Grant Estate and was chartered in 1956. It is recognized as one of America’s premier private clubs. The Grant Estate is one of the 8 original historic properties on Paces Ferry. It is part of Atlanta’s most beautiful historic districts which includes such properties as the Swan House, Tullie Smith House, and Stuart With House.

We arrived at Piedmont Park right around sunrise. I was looking forward to the photoshoot and getting to know these two. As luck would have it, there was rain and a chilly morning in the forecast. They were real troopers and said let’s go for it! I grabbed an extra strobe light and umbrella from my car and we started in the park. We then stopped in front of the garage where they had some cool street lamps. Then we headed to the soccer field where you have one of the finest skylines in the city. Once again we used the umbrella and second strobe for lighting. After a few minutes there we headed to the dock and wrapped up our shooting at Piedmont Park. The rain seemed to be coming down a little harder so I suggested we go to the Georgian Terrace, a historic hotel in downtown Atlanta on Peachtree Street. We'd be able to park there and go do some fun Downtown shots since it was only 5 minutes away. They agreed and off we went.
