This week’s blog is on the Payne-Corley House. As an Atlanta wedding photographer at atlantaartisticweddings it is one of my favorite places to shoot. It is located in the Duluth Historic District right across the street from the train tracks that go through downtown.
While all these physical upgrades make for a beautiful venue where Payne-Corley shines is in its staff and their event training. Krista and Mike together have over 60 years of experience in event planning. Their gracious staff make every guest feel at home and at ease. They are quick and know how to think on their feet. I particularly remember them accommodating a wedding on one of the rare occasions when it snowed in Duluth.

The wedding took place at my favorite venue Naylor Hall. I arrived early to get an idea of the layout since Ryan and Kitty changed plans and decided to have the wedding indoors because of the weather. This week the Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings captured a family wedding at Rays on the River. It was a relatively small wedding with about 75 family and friends. The couple’s names are E-Kat and Bruce.
The day started at the couple’s home where they raise their family and where they got ready for the big day. E-Kat was getting her hair and makeup done at her home while Bruce helped the kids get ready. They have 3 beautiful daughters and the youngest child is a precious boy about 11 years old. The girls had matching green dresses that were cut the same as their moms wedding dress. They had a draped collar with a sheath cut dress. They looked very tasteful and elegant. The groom and their son wore blue blazers and purple striped ties that matched their boutineers.
Atlanta Wedding Photographer Shares Advice for Your Wedding
As an Atlanta wedding photographer I often get asked for advice on weddings. The one piece of advice I give every bride and groom is “this is your wedding”. I think sometimes people forget that the wedding day is a celebration of their love and their vows to each other.
Often a bride and groom get overwhelmed by all the decisions that have to be made for the wedding. They have friends saying one thing and parents saying another thing. But this is their wedding. As a matter of fact I love it when a couple makes it their wedding. What I mean by that is when people come to the wedding they can see the personalities of the bride and groom reflected throughout the wedding day. Guests may see it in the wedding invitation, the food they serve, the decorations and even how they say their vows to each other. I have even seen people incorporate their pets in their weddings. I think your pets are part of the family too. They live with you and love you unconditionally!

This week’s wedding is Dun and Siming. They are from China and they met in the United States when they were going to school and met in church. They go to North Avenue Presbyterian Church at the corner of Peachtree Street and North Avenue.
I got to the church at 6:30 am. Yes I know that is really early to get to a church, but there was a reason that they wanted to start so early. They were streaming the wedding to their parents and family in China. There is a 12-hour time difference between Atlanta and China. When the wedding started here at 10am it was 10pm in China. When I got to the huge church in downtown Atlanta there were only 6 people in the building: me, Dun, Siming, two bridesmaids and 2 security guards. I introduced myself to the bride and groom separately since we had only spoken on the phone once. They were so sweet and thoughtful.
