This week’s wedding is Ryan and Lindsay, a very sweet and laid back couple. Lindsay’s family is from New York and Ryan is a local fella who grew up right down the road from me and he was born at the same hospital that my son was born and he also graduated from UGA like my son did.
Their wedding took place at the new Epicurean Hotel beside the Google headquarters in downtown Atlanta. It is a beautiful hotel with large rooms. They also have a very large courtyard on the 5th floor where you can see the Atlanta skyline from different angles. It also has a bar and swimming pool there too. It is a sort of high rise oasis in the middle of the city. The fifth floor is where the wedding happened and the reception was held outside on the courtyard.
Tara and I got there early and took a tour of the facility and scouted photo locations. We then went back to the room and shot the getting ready and detail photos. I always say I love it when a couple makes the wedding their own by adding little details of their personality. The first thing I noticed when I got to their room they shared was this box of cookies. Ryan told me that a good friend of theirs started a baking business and she made the cookies for them. The cookies had each guest’s name on them and this was part of their seating chart. Then Lindsay showed me her ring. The diamonds in her ring used to be her grandmothers. It was a beautiful classic cut and the groom’s ring is from commercially grown diamonds that were crushed and then pressure molded into his band. Two very unique rings.
Now let’s get to the wedding party. There was only one person in the wedding party and she was very special. She was their dog, Harper. She had her own specially made outfit with a tutu and a flowered collar. She sparkled with style and excitement. She is very well trained and walked down the aisle with the couple. When the couple were getting married she stayed at the feet of her grandfather the bride’s family and was a very good girl! After the ceremony she went up to the room because she is not much of a dancer or fan of loud music.
Like the hotel’s name there was a lot of epic food. First there was the cocktail hor d'oeuvres, including lobster, seabass, caviar, and oysters. They also brought out finger food and pastries. The main course was braised beef with a seafood salad that was out of this world! Then they brought about 7 different kinds of desserts.
After the food came out then there was the dancing. Everyone danced like there was no tomorrow. It was a lot of fun for all. The bride even got custom socks so the women would not have to dance in heels. What a great idea! Everyone danced throughout the night. If they weren't dancing they were getting a portrait painted by an artist the couple hired It was a beautiful night and everyone celebrated the love of Ryan and Lindsay. It was an honor to be their Atlanta wedding photographer.
