This week’s wedding took place at Naylor Hall. Naylor is one of my favorite wedding venue for so many reasons. The number one reason is the staff! Sunny and Abbey are the best and their team know how to accommodate every type of occasion. They certainly did not disappoint at this wedding!
This week’s couple was Karen and Eli. They are a cute couple who met at their church, connection over their deep religious ties that they share with their family and friends. They both come from Hispanic backgrounds which they celebrated at their wedding with different customs. The cultural element that stood out to me the most was the Mariachi band.
If you want your wedding to rock, get yourself a Mariachi band. They had an 11 piece mariachi band with horns, vihuela mexicana, violin, guitarrón bass and male and female singers. Since the 1930 has been widely considered the quintessential Mexican folk-derived musical ensemble. The mariachi band has become an institution symbol for Mexican music and culture. Not only did the Mariachi band sound great, they looked great too. They all wore matching charro outfits with lots of details on the sleeves, coat, and pants. They introduced the bride as she came down the aisle, played during cocktail hour and rocked the house during the reception. I can not say enough good things about this band.
During the reception the couple included many Hispanic traditions that were so much fun!
First, there was first the Turkey Dance where a group of people danced in a circle with a turkey, tequila, a basket of candy, bread and pot of mole. After the dance the kids enthusiastically threw the candy to from the front to the guests. Then there was the La Vibora Del Mar where everyone danced first around the room, then under the bride’s veil. At the end of the dance there is the tossing of the groom, where they toss the groom in the air in celebration! This was a blast!
After all the dancing, the bride and groom exited the wedding surrounded by their family and friends. The guests lined up in front of Naylor Hall and tossed flower petals to the couple as they left. Everyone cheered them on and wished them them the best. What a wonderful ending to such a beautiful wedding!
