As an Atlanta wedding photographer, once in a while you’ll get to capture something that is more than a wedding. This was absolutely one of those weddings. It was a day full of emotion and love.
I was contacted by a friend of mine who wanted me to shoot a friend’s wedding, but I was told we’d have to do it soon because the bride, Alice, was battling cancer and was in intensive care. I told her we were 100 percent in and were going to help in any way that we could.
Weddings like these are when everything is really put into perspective. It tells you that a wedding is more than a ceremony that brings two people together. It’s a celebration of the love friends and family have for each other.
As a bride, you imagine what your wedding day will be like and you picture the man of your dreams. You never imagine planning a wedding while you are battling cancer. That is when Alice’s friends and family pitched in and made the wedding happen.
Her boss, who is a amazing leader, helped with the planning and filled in as a wedding director. Her mom was there the whole time, supporting her daughter during this busy time. The mother helped Alice get dressed and carried her from the hospital to home. She also helped out with Alice’s daughter when Alice was in the hospital and going through treatments.
My mom always says “count your blessings!” I really think God was looking down on this couple and truly blessed them. They are blessed to have found each other and blessed with a little girl that got to see her parents get married. Likewise, the ceremony was blessed with friends that could get together and celebrate life and love!
I want to truly thank Alice and her family for the honor of being a small part of such a special day. It may have been raining, but the love of God shined upon you.
I want to give another big thanks to Tara, the other wedding photographer with me that day. She captured some of the most powerful getting ready shots I have seen. No matter how difficult the wedding she jumps right in and does a amazing job.
Thank you so much for visiting this Atlanta wedding photographer’s blog. If you have any questions please contact me. I would love to hear from you!
Thanks again!
