Congrats to Colin and Devan! They are a fun couple who embrace life! They were surrounded by family and friends who celebrated their love for one another. Colin and Devan enthusiastic foodies! Colin is a famous chef in Atlanta who has worked at some of the finest restaurants and is also the chef for one of the professional teams in Atlanta. They meet many years ago at a restaurant and reconnected then fell in love. When we meet I know this wedding was going to a lot of fun and reflect these unique individuals and their passion for life!
The wedding was held at the Payne Corley House outside of Atlanta. The Payne-Corley House is located in Duluth, Georgia has been host to thousands of weddings and special events over the past 20 years. Originally built in 1873, this restored farmhouse has been lovingly maintained to offer the best combination of traditional Southern charm and modern amenities. I have worked with their staff many of times and they are true pros!
Sarah and I really loved the brides unique dress. It was a modified a line with very simple and tasteful accents with a medium length train. Since the dress hung so great on the bride the bustle in the back looked great!
Colin and Devan also participated in the burying a bottle of bourbon in the front lawn of where you are getting married. If done correctly it is supposed to ward off rain the day of the wedding. They went to the venue one month before the wedding and discreetly buried the bourbon in the front of the venue and on the day of the wedding they opened it and drank to a beautiful day!
"To the world, you may be one person, but to one person you are the world." — Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss
Since they both have a passion for food their thank you gifts reflected that. Colin made a his own seasoning and bottled up so people could take one home withe them. On the label it said “Love is the spice of life!” It was a very thoughtful gift from some very thoughtful couple.
I really like the photo above from their wedding ceremony. During every wedding there are always little snafus that make the day fun and human. In a Jewish wedding ceremony the groom breaks a wine glass at the end of the ceremony and the guest yell “Mazel Tov !!!!!”. IT may sound easy enough but it is not as easy as it sounds. In this case the glass slid from under his foot so he had to do it again. When he tried to break it the second time it shattered for all to hear and he did with gusto and excitement. In this photo they are praising the lord that he broke the glass and they are married! It was really funny moment that they shared on their wedding day.
During the reception there was much dancing and mingling with guests. Some of the guys went outside and smoked cigars while the bride danced with some of her best friends and sisters. After the reception they went out front of the venue and did a sparkler exit. With everyone cheering them on!
I want to thank the Colin and Devan for the honor of being their Atlanta Wedding photographer. I also want to thank the Payne Corley House and staff for making Colin and Devan’s day so special.
