Atlanta Wedding Photographer Captures the the Skyline at the Blue hour
I am so blessed to be a Atlanta wedding photographer! This week let me take you on a journey of some of the great photo locations that show case the Atlanta skyline. This weekend one of my students that I taught at Emory contacted me and wanted to do a photo shoot. His name is Ian and he is a very talented photographer and on top of that he is a really nice guy. We chatted and decided to do a early morning shoot on a weekend that he was in Atlanta and I did not have a wedding. This weekend was it and it could not have been better!
If you have been following my blog my favorite time of day to shoot is early in the morning. I like that time of day for a couple of reasons. One reason is that there is no one around at before sunrise. It is like you have the whole city to your self and it is very peaceful time of day. The most important reason to shoot Atlanta in the morning is the light!!! If you start to shoot before sunrise you get this great lighting called the blue hour. It is my favorite time to shoot and get some great dramatic color for your photographs. It is a small widow of time about 15 minutes before sunrise when the sun is below the horizon but lighting up the atmosphere with this blue glow. As you can see from this bridal shoot you get a great Atlanta skyline and some dramatic blue sky.
When Ian and I were talking we wanted to take advantage of our remote flashes. As a Atlanta photographer it is one of the hardest things to master. When you get it right you can get some really good dramatic back lighting. I love some back lighting on wedding exits and the bride and grooms first dance. On this occasion we took ad vantage of the bridal veil. When used properly a brides veil can accent the bride and the dress at the same time. As you can see from the wedding photograph at the begging of this wedding photographer's blog.
This shoot took a total of 20 minutes to do. It is a quick set up and great wedding photography location. We get the the Atlanta skyline a beautiful wedding dress and dramatic lighting on the bride's veil. As always it is all about the light!!!
Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture the Atlanta Skyline at the Jackson Street Bridge
For our next photo location we went to the Jackson Street Bridge. It is a very popular photo location because you get a beautiful Atlanta skyline there also. We got there a little after sunrise and started shooting. I wanted the whole thing to be relaxed and fun. As you can see from the photo it was not overly posed. Just a woman greeting the day with open arms! Jackson Street Bridge is such a popular location that it has been used on movies and is in the opening shoot of the Walking Dead Television Show.
I want to thank the model for getting up so early on a Saturday and driving all the way to the middle of Atlanta do this photo photo shoot. I want to thank Ian for contacting me and making this photo shoot happen. It is really nice to connect and have fun with photography. Some times you take it for granted that you are blessed to do this for a job!
Most importantly I want to thank you and the bride and grooms that have given me the honor of photographing their weddings. If it was not them I would not be here today.
Thanks again!
David
