The new year is finally here! From first looks to fun family traditions to unique wedding themes, 2024 has brought about some wonderful memories and some beautiful weddings. This week, though, I want to talk about some wedding trends you may see become more prominent in 2025, according to Vogue and others int he wedding industry.
1) Film Photography

With it’s classic, elegant feel and more forgiving focus settings, more and more couples are turning to film photography and this won’t stop in 2025. As you may have seen, our Atlanta wedding photographers have started shooting film this past year as well. I love the subtle greys and the warmth that film gives to an image. Shooting film is a very deliberate process since there is no automatic settings on the camera. When you are so deliberate you think of each shot a lot longer and you do not overshoot your subject with photos you will not use. It is Zen-like when you walk through the process. This is no doubt what causes couples to gravitate towards film and we look forward to providing a more perfect product for clients in 2025!
2) Smaller, More Intimate Ceremonies

Another trend that has been growing in the past couple of years is smaller wedding ceremonies, whether at a local courthouse, a far-away dream destination, or even the couples backyard. The micro-wedding, as well as elopements, became super prominent during the pandemic a few years ago as a way to social distance and stay healthy, but it has kept growing in popularity. Couples have really grown to appreciate this low-stress, economical, efficient way of celebrating their marriage. It lets them forget about all the commercialized over the top details and helps them focus on their love for each other, which is what the day is all about. Here is hoping those priorities follow us into 2025!
3) Bigger And Bolder Fashion Statements

One of my favorite growing trends is more unique fashion choices from the bride and groom! From embroidered capes and dramatic trains to bold second (or third) looks, couples are making wardrobe choices that reflect their personality. Brides are getting more and more ambitious with their looks, such as short wedding dresses or even jumpsuits. Similarly, grooms are stepping away from the traditional black suit to colors like blue or brown and even some patterns like plaid. I love that couples are embracing showing their personality in this way and can’t wait to see the wedding fashions in 2025!
4) Private Vows

A new trend has popped up in the last couple of years: the private vow. This means that couples choose to either exchange their vows as letters before the ceremony, turn off their mics when it’s time for their vows, or implement some other strategy so that the vows are only known to the two of them. It is an incredibly sweet gesture and really shows that the couple intends to put each other first and really mean what they say, making promises without outside influence of guests. It’s a lovely gesture that we hope more couples take advantage of next year.
5) More Spreading The Love Around!

One of our favorite parts about what we do is seeing all the love there is to go around! Our couples constantly show how loving and supportive they are of each other, as well as how loving and supportive their family, friends, and loved ones are. Our Atlanta wedding photographers try to give that love back and want all our couples to feel like we are family because we really do want what’s best for them! All of that love, happiness, and joyful energy is probably the most important thing to bring with us into 2025. We plan to do just that and hope you will too!
