At first you may think a photo session in the rain sounds downright miserable. You’re cold, wet, and your clothes get muddy. However, our Atlanta wedding photographers know that there’s a bit of hidden magic in rain shots when done right. Here are a few reasons to be open to a rain session for your wedding.
1) The Lighting/Atmosphere

Whenever it rains it creates what I like to call “mood lighting”. The darkness from the clouds is offset by the shiny reflection of the camera flash on the raindrops, which creates a kind of halo effect and makes the rain sparkle. It’s absolutely stunning!
2) Play it Up

You can really have fun and use the rain to enhance your pics. Add a fun prop like an umbrella to really sell the photo and give it a thematic feel. If you’re really adventurous you and your partner can get candid pics playing and splashing in the rain too!
3) The Symbolism

Finally, if it rains on your wedding day it might be something to appreciate. After all, many cultures believe rain on your wedding day is good luck because some things, like ropes tied into knots, are stringer when they’re wet. If you can weather the storm on your wedding day then your relationship is solid!
