As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I get excited when a bride and groom choose a location that is unique and reflects their personality. May it be a historical venue that reflects their love of the old city or you want a venue that has great views of the modern city and historic park.
Delta Flight Museum, is a venue that is very unique and is a symbol of modern Atlanta. Atlanta is a Delta hub which means most connecting flights go through Atlanta so there are a lot of people that are connected to Delta. The Delta Flight Museum is housed in a couple of connected renovated historic airplane hangars built in the 1940’s. In 2011 the museum was designated a Historic Aerospace Site. There is close to 70,000 square feet of event and meeting space. You can have your wedding under a 747 or have a smaller wedding in one of the smaller museum areas. As an Atlanta wedding photographer I just love that there are so many unique photo opportunities for the aviation lover! There is a Delta iconic 21 passenger Douglas DC-3, a DC-7B and a static DC-9 one of the first early commercial passenger planes. If you are a pilot and love old planes I would suggest the Delta Flight Museum for your wedding.
There is a new unique venue that just came on the scene and it is Guardian Works. The Atlanta wedding photographers at Atlanta Artistic Weddings were one of the first to photograph a wedding there. It is located in the Echo Street West 19 acre community development near the new Westside Beltline. The renovated 1908 beam and brick building features 8,000 square feet of air conditioned event space and 4000 square feet of sheltered patio space that steps down to 10,000 square feet of courtyard and porch space. The space is operated by Novare Events. They are one of the biggest and best event space operators. You will see them mentioned a couple of times in this blog.
The one event space that has the best Atlanta skyline view is Ventanas. It is a modern Atlanta wedding venue that is located by Centennial Olympic Park, a beautiful park located in the center of downtown Atlanta. It is a turnkey event venue with hotels next to it, a kitchen catering company located on the premises, and a beautiful event space. It has floor to ceiling windows to give you a panoramic view of downtown and midtown Atlanta. You can even see Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain from their balcony. When you look down from the two story event space you can see Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia Aquarium. The best feature of Ventanas is the helipad located on the roof. When you have a helipad on the roof you have a beautiful skyline view of the city and if you like you can make a dramatic wedding exit in a helicopter!
One the coolest places in Atlanta is located in the middle of the city at Piedmont Park it is the Piedmont Room. As an Atlanta wedding photographer it has some of the most beautiful settings around. The Piedmont Room was built in 1928 as the clubhouse for the golf course that resided in Piedmont Park. It is built with Stone Mountain granite walls. The ballroom is surrounded with floor to ceiling windows that give you a view of Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Skyline. When you get married there they have several areas for the ceremony and photos. You can just take a step outside of the venue and you are in the middle of Piedmont Park. A lot of people rent golf carts and quickly travel to some of the parks most scenic backgrounds. At the end of the night for your exit you go through those handmade wrought iron gates. A perfect cap to a perfect wedding location.
One of the more elegant and larger wedding venues is the Biltmore Ballrooms. Built in 1924 as part of the Biltmore Hotel, it was a meeting place for Atlanta’s business and social events. In 1999 The Biltmore went through a total renovation to and was restored to its original grandeur. It was then added to the National Register of Historic Places. The ballroom has handmade plaster and relief ceilings, Palladian windows, Tennessee marble floors and large restored crystal chandeliers that lights up the ballroom to let you know you are in a very special space. There is a courtyard by the building entrance where you enter through brass doors and through a porch that is supported by large marble columns. It is an Atlanta wedding photographer's dream location and is full of elegance.
