This week’s wedding is Amanda and Kenny, Whom I know personally. It was one of those weddings that felt like we were part of something special. It was shot with a lot of heart from everyone on the Atlanta Artistic Weddings team. If you look through the photos you will see the heart symbol throughout.
I have known Amanda since she was a little girl. Her father, Reverend Russ Weekley is the pastor of my church I attend. They are a wonderful family full of love and laughter! I got to know Kenny at our engagement session we did a few months back. He is such an outstanding man who has a wonderful heart and is full of kindness towards others. They come from two great families. The only family member I did not meet that I hope to is the new pup they adopted, who is cute as a button!
I would call this a rustic wedding. It took place outside of town at Stoney Oak Farms near Braselton Georgia. The venue is on a farm that contains a barn, open fields, wooded area and pen with two horses called Jazz and Snowball. There is also the owner's hunting dog that makes appearances. The farm is a quiet place that evokes serenity and calm. There are no city noises such as cars, sirens or planes to distract you from the celebration.
The day could not have started out better. The sun was out and there was zero chance of rain. There was a gentle breeze that went over the open fields and through the barn to cool off the guests. We started out with the guys and did a few candid shots of the guys getting ready. We then went to the field to do group shots and fun shots playing around by the tree's edge. We then tucked the guys away and did the same with the ladies. The two groups were such a blast to work with!
The ceremony was very unique just like the couple. It was performed by Rus the bride’s father. Russ walked Amanda down the aisle and then when he got to the wedding altar he grabbed his Presbyterian stove and performed the ceremony. It was an emotional moment for Russ and the family. They held it together with such grace.
After the ceremony and a few more photos it was time for the reception. The couple had a taco food truck that had some of the best tasting tacos ever. After everyone was served it was time for the toasts and that is where we got to know from their friend’s perspective how great Amanda and Kenny are. After the toasts it was time for the dances. We had the father and daughter dance and the mother and son dance. After that the dance floor was opened up and then everyone let their hair down. They danced with unbridled enthusiasm and glee. There was one moment where they dedicated a dance to Amanda’s parents Russ and Carolyn since it was their anniversary! What a happy coincidence!
Like all good things it had to come to an end, so it was time for the exit. Hannah, Amanda’s sister, drove a classic Volkswagen beetle for the exit. The guests cheered as the newlyweds walked through the sparkler exit and jumped in the car. What a great ending to such a special day!
