Engagement sessions are something that I love. It is the one time that the couple and I can have a very relaxed casual conversation about their wedding and photography. We get to know each other and what we are comfortable with. The more we chat the more we become comfortable with each other. The main thing I want to communicate with a new couple during their engagement photography is that I am there for them and help in any way that I can.
It you know me you know that I like to do the engagement sessions early in the morning. I like them in the morning for a couple of reasons. Number one is that it is cooler in the morning, especially in Georgia! No one looks good sweating. Number two there is not a crowd around you when you are doing your photos. When you are doing you photos you need a certain intimacy so you can be yourself and not feel self conscious with everyone staring at you. You want to feel relaxed and trust the photographer you are with to show you in the best light.
The last part of that paragraph is the most important thing in photography “the best light”. There is an old saying in photography. A armature looks at his equipment, a professional is looking to get paid but a true artist is looking for the light. That is where the Artistic comes from in Atlanta Artistic Weddings. When I am shooting I am always looking for the best light. The best light is often in the morning when the sun is low to the horizon. You get some great romantic rim lighting and warm tones. You are also not racing against a sunset where that is the end of the photo session. If you shoot in the morning you can run a little long and it is not a problem! Also the couple does not feel rushed around to get all the shots in before sunset.
I hope this helps give you a little insight to the way I shoot an engagement session for my clients. Thank you so much for visiting! I hope that you have enjoyed this Atlanta wedding photographers blog and keep coming back for some fun photos and insight to Atlanta wedding photography!
Thanks again!
David
