As a Atlanta wedding photographer I have had the honor of photographing many different kinds of weddings and I have enjoyed them all. In the last couple of years we have done several same sex weddings. They are so much fun! This week we had the honor of photographing a couple who tied the knot after being 30 years together. The brother of the groom toasted “30 years….. the worlds longest engagement!”.

In June 26th 2015 the Supreme Court made same sex marriage legal. Then in September of that year I shot my first gay wedding at St. Batholomew’s Episcopal Church. They had their reception at Livingston’s at the Georgian Terrace Hotel. The church they got married at was very supportive. They were surrounded by people who loved and supported them.
This year I have done two gay weddings. One was in the spring and the father of the bride did the ceremony. The second gay wedding we did this year was the one I mentioned at the beginning of the blog. They had been together 30 years and wanted to get married on the anniversary of their commitment ceremony. This wedding was so special to me in so many ways. One the couple were my age so I think I could relate to them a little more than some of the younger couples that I shot. I also had just a little idea of the different struggles they went trough. It was really nice to see the state finally recognize their love for one another! I think this was the most I have ever cried at a wedding.
Thank you so much for visiting this Atlanta wedding photographer’s blog. As a Atlanta wedding photographer I support the gay community. If you have any questions I would love to hear from you. Please drop me a line at the contact section of the website and I promise that I will get back to you.
Thanks again!
