On Saturday, Jan. 26, Atlanta Artistic Weddings had the pleasure of photographing Amie and Zack’s chilly, yet romantic early morning engagement session at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.
Amie and Zack first met when Amie ventured to California to visit a friend, who also knew and was friends with Zack. After meeting one another, the pair kept in touch and visited each other often. It wasn’t long before Zack moved to Georgia to be with Amie. And so their story began.
The couple decided to have their engagement session at Piedmont Park because it will be the backdrop for one of the happiest days of their lives. Later this year, on Sunday, Sept. 1, Amie and Zack will exchange vows and celebrate with family and friends at the Piedmont Room. This iconic and premiere Atlanta wedding venue combines true southern antiquity with contemporary cityscapes. Constructed in the early 1900s, the Piedmont Room’s building “was first used as horse stables and served as the clubhouse to the golf course that once resided within the park.” The building has maintained its past by the inclusion of preserved, one-of-a-kind Stone Mountain granite and traditional wooden plank walls and ivy-covered windows.
Besides the scenic shooting locale, what was unique about Amie and Zack’s engagement session was the timing. AAW was lucky to capture several snapshots during the blue hour. The blue hour, more commonly known as twilight, occurs 15 to 20 minutes before sunrise and after sunset. AAW also documented many sweet moments between Amie and Zack during the golden hour. The golden hour, or magic hour, is best described as the first and last hour of sunlight when a distinct quality of light produces lovely, swoon-worthy pictures. It’s a truly magical time of day, especially when you pair it with a picturesque setting and a good-looking couple.
Congratulations, Amie and Zack. AAW can’t wait to be a part of your big day.
