Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Georgia Mountians Wedding

by David Diener

As a Atlanta wedding photographer I love the diversity that area can give you.  I recently shot a wedding at Big Canoe in the north Georgia mountains.  The area is absolutely stunning!  It has a huge golf course nestled in the middle of the mountains.  All  of this makes for a beautiful setting for photography.  Then you add a gorgeous wedding and you have some great photos. On the wedding day the bride wore a slight mermaid cut wedding dress with just the perfect length train for the dress.   It was very tastful and reflected her personalty perfectly.

I can't say enough nice things about this wonderful couple.  From the first time I met them, I could tell they were just so thoughtful to each other.  They had such a great families and were so generious and gracious to all.

I am sharing their exit picture with you.   I love the exit photos!  That way you get to see all the guest have fun sending them off.  I picked this picture in particlar for a couple of reasons.  One I love the lighting from the trees it gave such a warm feeling.  The second is just so random!  I just love the guy to the right in this photo.  I did not ask him to do this but him looking at the camera with that expression and pointing at the camera is just perfect!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Fun Wedding Exit in Pick Up Truck and Sparklers!

by David Diener

Sparklers make for a great exit during the evening wedding
Wedding Exit by www.atlantaartisticweddings.com
I want to share the latest wedding exit I recently did.  As an Atlanta Wedding Photographer I get to see lots of different kinds of exits.  I just love it when some one comes up with a way to express their personality.  This couple had a family member who had a restored classic Ford Truck.  Their theme for the wedding was the 1930's and the couple really took it to the next level.  They were such fun to work with!  When the exit came around they handed out the long burning sparklers and hoped in the back of the pick up truck.  I just love the way the sparklers give off such a warm and romantic light on the couple.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Classic Car, Classic Venue and Classic Couple!

by David Diener

Atlanta Wedding Photographer and Historic Wedding Venue
Historic Wedding Venue Outside of Atlanta Georgia
I have to share with you this wedding that I shot this weekend.  The couple where so cute!  I feel so lucky being a Atlanta wedding photographer.  They had a 1930's wedding theme and they had the perfect back drop for it.  They got married at the Braselton Stover House which is a turn of the century mansion in Braselton, Georgia.   They just so happened to have a uncle who has a restored early Ford pick up truck.  Together they were just the perfect back drop to a beautiful wedding. The guys wore tasteful tuxedos and the bride wore a beautiful taylored Column type gown with a wonderful train.  The wedding came together perfectly. Classic car, classic venue and classic couple make for some stunning artistic photography.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Why Atlanta Artistic Weddings Loves Engagment Photos

by David Diener

As a Atlanta wedding photographer I love engagement photography.  It is a time that I can give the couple my undivided attention. Also it is a much more casual setting that the wedding day.  When I do engagement photography I am always talking getting to know the couple and what they are comfortable with.  This gives me ideas on how to shoot them.  When it is just the couple and I they are much more relaxed and they feel free to be theirselves.  I just usually walk around and I will get them to stop when I see some good light as in the picture above.  I then let them just have fun.  That way the can relax and not worry about posing.  I will give suggestions when asked but most of the time the best photos are when the couple are just being theirselves.  While I love taking the photos what I like best when I am doing the engagement photography is getting to know the couple.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Why Atlanta Artistic Weddings loves Piedmont Park

by David Diener

Engagment Photography by Atlantaartisticweddings.com

Let me say it one more time I love Piedmont Park in the morning.  As an Atlanta Wedding Photographer I love this oasis in the middle of Atlanta.  It has the romanticism that brings a couple closer.  I had the opprotunity to shot a wonderful couple this weekend.  We were blessed with some wonderful weather and great light.  They were so sweet to each other.  I love doint engagement shoots for two reasons. One I love working with the couple on a more casual setting. Everyone knows the best photos are when you are relaxed.  In a relaxed setting the couple can just be theirselves and relax.  The second reason I like to shot engagemnt photos is that I get to know the couple.  I am always just asking them questions and chatting them up.  That way I know them and they know me.  So when the wedding day comes around I am not a stranger running around with a camera I am David their friend documenting their day.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Great Military Couple! Engagement Photography at Piedmont Park Atlanta

by David Diener

Military Wedding by Atlanta Artistic Weddings at Piedmont Park Atlanta
Hello and thank you so much for dropping by my blog.  Where I share my experiences with shooting weddings in Atlanta.  Recently I had the honor of shooting a military couple.  I let me say they were great!  They found me online and we skyped our meetings so when they came in to town for their engagement shot I felt like I already knew them.  We meet at Piedmont Park at 8am.  I love working in the morning and especially at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.  If you get there early no one is around. You get to run all over the park and no one feels self conscious.  It is a great experience I suggest you try. As you can see the sun is still low in the horizon and gives off some great light.  I can't say thank you enough for the this couple they were great!

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Engagement Photography in Atlanta

by David Diener

Engagement Photography in Atlanta

Well folks it has been a while since I posted.  This weekend I have done two engagement sessions in Atlanta.  They are so much fun!  When I shoot an engagement session it is very casual and that it why I really like them.  We just have a good time!  Just the way it should be. We usually just walk around and stop where there is some good light.  It is something I like to add to my wedding packages.  That way the couple gets to know me and how I work and I get to know them and what they are looking for.  So when the wedding day comes around we are not strangers to each other and they are comfortable with the photography.   When you are relaxed that is where the best photos come from.

Detail Shots Are So Important!

by David Diener

Kissed are fun
Love is in the Air!
Well wedding season is starting up and I finished my wedding I shot last weekend. It was a wonderful ceremony and two great people.  It is an honor being a wedding photographer in Atlanta.  I have been photographing weddings for a while now and it is always neat to see what shots are my favorite.  Usually they are the least expected ones from a wedding.  This photo came from just a quick little act of kindness from the groom.  He took the brides hand and kissed it.  Such a nice gesture and made for such an interesting photo.  It are these little detail shots that capture the little moments of the day.  This shot captures the love they have for each other in an almost abstract way.  It is like a little microcosm of the wedding.

Check Out the Reviews of your Atlanta Wedding Photographer

by David Diener

Hi, I know some of you are just over whelmed with picking out a wedding photographer.  There are many things to look for when you are choosing the right wedding photographer for your wedding.  One is picking the style of photography you want for your wedding.  There are many talented photographers out there and just as many styles.  That is a very subjective choice and that depends on you.  One thing that is not so objective is looking at reviews.  Reviews tell you how satisfied clients were with their work.  Well I should know I am a Atlanta Wedding Photographer and I work hard for customer satisfaction and reviews from my clients.  There are many places you can check for reviews.  You can check for reviews in many places.  You can check at Google and look at their Google Plus page like this. You can check out Yahoo reviews of Atlanta Wedding Photographers like this. You can also check out Wedding Wire, My Wedding, Event Wire, and Facebook.  The point is do a little research because brides are more than happy to share their experience with a photographer.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help in any way that can.
Thanks so much for visiting!

Wedding Photography at Night

by David Diener

Hello everyone! This Atlanta Wedding Photographer has been very busy! I have been teaching at Emory in the evenings and getting geared up for all the weddings in May.  I wanted to share with you one of my favorite time of the days to shoot.  It is right after sunset and the sky turns blue.  I recently took a photo at that time of day and wanted to share it with everyone.  The bride wanted to use the lighting from the Gazebo for her wedding.  As you can see the timing and the light made for a wonderful and dramatic photo.   I hope that you enjoy the photo as much as I enjoyed taking it.

Historic Wedding Location in Atlanta the Marianna aka Victor H. Kriegshaber House

by David Diener

Spring is in the air and so are weddings.  As you know I like to sing the praises of people that I like.  I am also a big fan of historic architecture.  Recently Ema from the Marianna asked me to come by and check out the wedding facility the Marianna.  It is a wonderful venue!!! You can see the website at: http://www.themarianna.com/

I have always loved this place since I first saw it.  I checked out a long time ago during the renovation period. I can tell the current owners have a deep appreciation of the historic architecture they have.   If you do any research on the venue you can search by the historic name Victor H. Kriegshaber House.  It is on the National Registrar of Historic Places and listed on several websites.  It has been a land mark in Atlanta since the early 1900's.
Come on by and say hello to Ema.  Take a tour of the facility and you will be happy you did.

Add a little Class to Your Wedding

by David Diener

When I come across a vendor that I like I like to share it with my clients.  If you alive music to the wedding you can add the element of class to your wedding.  Especially if you use these classy musicians.  There is something special about adding a string trio to your wedding. One more bonus to having a live musician at your wedding that they can easily be available to adjust to your programs timing.  That is a good thing since we all know that sometimes a wedding can run a little behind schedule.

There is something to be said  about live music and how much it adds to your wedding.

Emory Continuing Education Class on Location at photo shoot
Emory Continuing Education Class on Location at photo shoot

I want to share with you what we have been doing lately.  I have the honor of being a photography instructor at Emory’s continuing education program.  Let me tell you I have a great class of talented photographers.  They are getting toward the end of the of the program and are really shining!  They are some of the most inspiring individuals that I ever had the honor of working with.  We gone through several classes and concentrated on different aspects of photography.
This month I took the class to a photography studio in downtown Atlanta.  We had access to several backdrops and different sources of lighting.  I was amazed at how each photographer brought their own voice to the shoot.  Our model was Kristi .   I can’t say enough nice things about her! She brought her “A” game and was just down right fun!
Here are links to the photographers at the shoot.  Please take the time to view some beautiful photography.

A Photography Website with Shortcuts and Inspiration

by David Diener

Hello everyone! As a Atlanta wedding photographer I am always looking for inspiration.  I have made a website with some links to the information that I refer to most.  It is at http://atlantaartisticweddings.com/class/links.html.  There I have links to photoshop shortcuts, lightroom shortcuts and links to photographers that inspire me.  I have also embedded videos of  George Hurrell one of the greatest photographers.  He was the photographer to Hollywood for years and was the master of the black and white stills that promoted the stars of the time.  I have also embedded a video of Richard Avadon another photographer that inspired me.  His documentary "Dark and Light" is a classic that we can all learn from.  Both photographers shoot in black and white and are minimalist photographers in the since they capture the subject and there is no filler.  We could all learn from them.
I hope that you enjoy the site and come back often.  I plan on updating it often with new links and inspiration!

Trash The Dress! by Atlanta Wedding Photographer

by David Diener

Hello everyone!  There has been a growing trend among the younger brides for "trash the dress" photo shots.  This involves after the wedding you go out and pick a location to trash your wedding dress.  I just got an opportunity to do one.

I think they are great ideas.  They give the bride a chance to wear the wedding dress again and have a photo shot where they are not rushed by the wedding day.  They get to have fun and not be so worried about being so prime and proper.  This way the are just a girl having fun!

This bride was so wonderful.   We decided to do some fun photos before we went and trashed the dress in the lake.  She wore some sassy cowboy boots.  We did a few shots on some railroad tracks, a covered bridge and some by the lake.  We then moved on to the lake location.

We had a blast!! She was full of energy and gave some wonderful playful poses.  As you can see from the photo the main objective was to have fun!  Which is what all photo shots should be.  I want to thank the bride for giving me the chance to photograph such a unique opportunity.

Why Wedding Photographer's Love Natural Light

by David Diener

It is no secret that Atlanta wedding photographers prefer natural light. The color is balanced and there is just something about the light dressing the bride in sunlight.  In this photo by David Diener you can see the bride just soaking in the natural light.  I started out as an fine artist and illustrator.  One of my favorite artists is Vermeer.  His mastery of light is unparalleled and that is why he is considered the master of light.  I am know I am no Vermeer but I will often use his techniques in photography.  He is often seen using a light from a window like this one and making some very dramatic light and bringing power to his paintings.
Girl with a Pearl Earing is a great example of natural dramatic light

I also like using natural light because it like Vermeer it is a classic.  It is something that has been used for years and will be here for a long time.
