Downtown Atlanta Wedding Photography

by David Diener

I recently had a unique opportunity to have a model that had access to a wedding dress. I was not going to let that pass me by. So I set up a shoot in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. More specifically the Atlantic Station area. I felt this area show cases AtlantaThere is a bridge, lake, and this really cool architectural arch. I as luck enough to find some parking right near the bridge. So we started there.
While shooting at the bridge we got some wonderful photos. We took advantage of the
Atlanta skyline and the lights in the background. It made a great back drop to some
wonderful poses. Like I said before Irene was a pro. We got some head shots with the
arch in the background. But my favorite shot on the bridge was some of Irene sitting on
the bridge with the skyline in the back ground.
We then moved toward the columns below the arch. There we got some great back
lighted photos with the help of katherine the photographer’s assistant.
I want to say give a big shout out to the model Irene who was awesome to work with
she was a real pro who delivered! I also want to give a big thanks to Katherine the
make up artist who doubled as a photographer’s assistant. These two women were
awesome working late into the night and in the heat of a Atlanta which can be a lot to
ask of anyone. Thank you thank you and thank you!
Thank you so much for visiting! Please feel free to call me at

What I love about being a Atlanta Wedding Photographer

by David Diener

What I love about wedding photography. First let me give you some background on me.  I start doing photography over 20 years ago with film. Matter of fact I still shoot some large format HABS HAER photography for the park service on film. While I love black and white photography with film. I love enjoy the convenience of shooting digital. While I like architecture I love shooting people!

I love shooting people! I am a people person. That is the main reason love wedding photography. I enjoy the range of emotions that come come to wedding. The joy of everyone getting together and witnessing the joining of two people in love. There
is something so very special about that. I am always trying to capture that special moment that two people look at each other and are giddy that they are married! That little moment when the parents look at their kids and are so happy for them. That
moment when the grand parents look on and see another generation has begun. How
can some one not love that!

The other thing I love about weddings is the challenge. You really have to have your
energy level on high. You have to be aware of what is happening around you and what
is going to happen. I have to constantly have to anticipate what is going to happen
next. Where to be to capture the expression on someone's face or to be where the
action is. I am always looking for the little details of wedding that makes it unique to the
couple may it be a candle for a loved one or the bride wearing cowboy boots. That is
one the many reasons I so enjoy wedding photography.

I do believe I was born to be a wedding photographer. I see so many blogs from other
wedding photographers and they are always complaining about this or that. I on the
other hand fell so blessed to be able to shot weddings in Atlanta, Georgia one of the
greatest places in the world for weddings!!!!!!!

I love a great wedding proposal! I think a lot of you have seen these wedding proposals but I wanted to share them with some of the people who haven’t. The next one is from Saint Simon’s Island, Georgia. It is just a sweet little video of how and where a person proposes makes it special for years to come!

the Atlanta Wedding Season has Begun!

by David Diener

Well it is that time of year again in Atlanta.  You can smell the honeysuckle and see the Azaleas in bloom. With all this going on it is the perfect time to get married!  I have had the great opportunity to shoot a lot of weddings this season.  I have shot at the Chateau Elan, Stone Mountain, Downtown Atlanta and the classic Braselton Stover House.
I feel so honored to part of so many weddings.   I really enjoy the documenting the excitement and love that is at a wedding in Georgia.  The romantic looks, the details that the bride has worked so hard on.  It is just so cool to have a job that I get to photograph the most important day of a couples life!

Have fun at your Atlanta Wedding!

by David Diener

This week I had another great wedding!  There were a great couple who I could tell that were truly in love.  They knew how to share their wedding day with friends and family.  They also had the cutest little twin girls in their wedding as flower girls.  You can see highlights at my Atlanta Artistic Weddings site my clicking http://atlantaartisticweddings.com/atlanta%20wedding%20photographer/4-9-2011-wedding.html
The wedding was held at the Braselton Stove House.  If you follow my blog you know it is one of my favorite places to shot.  It has everything you need!  A great ball room and historic house that has so many wonderful places to photograph. The caterer was cornbread and caviar.  They are one of the best in the business.

Take Advantages of all the Scenic Places in and Around Atlanta

by David Diener

There are so many ways to do your wedding.  I recently shot a wedding where the Church was beautiful inside but lacked any locations to shot outside and the reception was in a restaurant with the same problem.  So the bride and I got to together and looked at google maps for a locations in the vicinity of both venues.
We decided at a park with a covered bridge.
It was a great decision that we were so thankful for.  You can see the other hightlights of the wedding, reception and fun shots at http://atlantaartisticweddings.com/atlanta%20wedding%20photographer/4-2-11%20wedding.html.
The bride was so great to work with!  As you can see she was comfortable in your dress and location. When everyone is relaxed then everyone can have some fun!!!

Great Bridal Show Outside Atlanta, Georgia

by David Diener

This Sunday I was lucky enough to participate in a bridal show at the Braselton Stover House in Braselton, Georgia.  Mary Stover organizes these events for brides so they can see different vendors for their wedding.  I would suggest to all brides that they should take advantage of these events.  It is a low pressure environment to get some great ideas! You learn so much from taking advantage of Mary's many years of experience and insight.
While there I came across a great cake decorator.  His name is Mark Brickman.  He had a couple of great examples of his wedding cakes.  I have seen many wedding cakes and his craft and talent have set him apart as one of the best in Atlanta!  As good as these cake look they test even better! They are a great center piece to your wedding. His website is located at www.bakersmanic.com. You should go by his site and check out his creative creations.  He not only does wedding cakes he does some very original groom cakes.
Also there was Jane Elkenberry from Cornbread and Caviar.  She is a great caterer who brings  you great food within your budget.  She is also the caterer for the Fox Theater.  She is a gracious person who wants the best for your wedding. You can call her at 404-273-4939 and she will be happy to help you.

Last but not least was Pulse Dj Services was there.  DJ Chris Meeks was there spinning some great tunes for the brides.  He brings the tunes to your event and keeps the party going! You can visit his site at http://www.pulsedjservices.com/

I have recently done a great wedding on the east side of town called Gaither's Plantation ,located at  270 Davis Ford Road in Covington .  The property is owned by the county and is said to be haunted! Their parents rented a historic mansion where they decorated so wonderfully.  They really made it a family affair and such a personable occasion.  The occasion was near Halloween so they decorated it with a Halloween them.  The place was decorated with these warm Autumn colors.  There were also little teeth and little kick kacks for the kids which made it fun for everyone.  I even grabbed some of the Halloween teeth and got the bridesmaids and bride to put them on and made scary faces!!

What fun!  When it is time for your wedding make it your own and have fun!

Child Portraits and the joy they give everyone

by David Diener

Recently I was given the honor of making a portrait of a good friend of mines family and specifically their daughter.  They are so sweet.  The dad is a dear friend of mine who I give a hard time constantly at work because of begrudgingly attitude that he tries to project. I really enjoyed see all that melt away and see the real him as he interacts with his family.  The way he melts when his little girl smiles at him.  Also how he learns that 1 year old little girls have their own time line and that we can not rush them or change their minds with a wave our hand.
Doing this photo shoot reminded me one the thing that got me into photography and historical documentation  in the first place.  It is a sort of time capsule of a people's lives. I feel so honored to be part of it.  I know that the mother and father will look back at it and fondly reminisce on how tiny their little girls hands were or how they spent so much time picking out a little outfit that fitted her for only 3 months.   The child will years from now will complain how fat their cheeks where or how the outfit looks so dated.   In about 50 years the child will look back and point at the photograph and say "I was a cute baby!" and their kids and grand kids will look into the photograph for glimpses of their selves such as mom's nose or dads eyes.
This is a honor that I do not take lightly.   I feel so blessed to be part of each families documentary and portraits that will be part of the time line of generations to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all!

Indian Wedding in Atlanta, Georgia

by David Diener

As a Atlanta Wedding Photographer it is a honor to photograph so many different weddings.  This month I got to photograph Oma's and Terry's Wedding Party in Atlanta.  I we had so much fun!  Since they had already gotten married in New York City they wanted to have a party here for their friends in Georgia.  The party was in Atlanta.
The coolest thing we did was do a sort of engagement shoot / wedding portrait.  Since they were both Indian I suggested the Hindu Temple in Lilburn as the back drop.  It worked beautifully!!!! I could not ask for more.  We started shooting late in the afternoon and they were gracious enough to stick around till the sun went down and we got some amazing photos.  You can see the slide show at http://atlantaartisticwedding.com/atlanta%20wedding%20photographer/oma%20and%20terry.htm.  Thank you Oma and Terry! and Thank you for visiting!
