Payne-Corley House Is An Atlanta Wedding Photographer's Dream
This week’s blog is on the Payne-Corley House. As an Atlanta wedding photographer it is one of my favorite places to shoot. It is located in the Duluth Historic District right across the street from the train tracks that go through downtown.
The Payne-Corley House was built in the 1870s when Dulth was still known as “Howell’s Crossing”. The Payne-Corley House was named after Frances Payne and his daughter who married a Corley. In 1998 a group of girlhood friends called the Dreamkeepers purchased the home and named it the Payne-Corley House. They were the ones who transformed the historic farmhouse to an events facility. Their mission was to maintain the home's historic charm while upgrading the house to meet the needs of a modern clientele. Once the refurbishing project was done Payne-Corley House became one the Southeast’s most celebrated event destinations.
In 2004 Krista Summerour Ganley, a daughter of one of the Dreamkeepers, purchased the Payne-Corley House. Krista also brought many years of experience as an event manager at some of the most pristine venues in Atlanta. Along with her husband Michael Ganley, a world renowned chef of gourmet cuisine, Krista launched and upgraded the property. They now have have a professional kitchen, large dining area, and outdoor area for wedding ceremonies. They also now own a florist company. They are a one stop turnkey wedding venue.
While all these physical upgrades make for a beautiful venue where Payne-Corley shines is in its staff and their event training. Krista and Mike together have over 60 years of experience in event planning. Their gracious staff make every guest feel at home and at ease. They are quick and know how to think on their feet. I particularly remember them accommodating a wedding on one of the rare occasions when it snowed in Duluth.
When you are thinking of a historic venue in the Atlanta area do yourself a favor and check out the Payne-Corley house. You will be impressed by the beautiful venue and professional staff. You can trust the people at Payne-Corley house to do the wedding work for you and that way you can enjoy your wedding day instead of sweating the details.
