The Next Stage Of Life And Why It Is An Honor Being An Atlanta Wedding Photographer
This week's photo session are with Amanda and Daniel. I photographed their wedding in the rain at Ashton Gardens in 2018. You can see the original photos at https://www.atlantaartisticweddings.com/blog/2018/6/11/atlanta-wedding-photographers-shoot-sparklers-and-rain-at-ashton-gardens.
A few months back Amanda contacted me to let me know that she was pregnant and wanted to do a maternity shoot. I usually don’t do maternity shoots but since this was one of my favorite couples, I said yes. I was so excited for them! It is such a joy seeing my couples go through the next stage of life.
We made plans for a shoot in April since she would be showing by then. The one thing you can’t do at weddings and photo shoots is control the weather. They were a fun couple, who were not afraid of taking advantage of changing circumstances so when it rained at their wedding we took advantage of it and captured some of my favorite photos! This photo session was no different. When the date came I told Amanda that it was supposed to rain on the day of the shoot and she said “if it does it will be fate!”
Well we met early in the morning and of course it was raining. My first priority was to keep a pregnant woman safe so I met them at the car and they said let’s do it! If they were game, so was I. We happened to be shooting at McDaniel Farm where we did their engagement shoot so we were coming full circle.
We first went to the historic house at McDaniel Farm. I wanted to keep them as dry as I could so we started shooting on the porch at the main house. We incorporated several ideas that Daniel and Amanda had like the sonograms and story board. Once we were done on the porch we basically went to the same locations as their engagement shoot. I gave them a large white umbrella that I always keep with me for such occasions. We had a blast! They were so much fun and open to anything. I have never been happier with a photo session than this one. It was such an honor to document the evolution of their family!
I want to thank Amanda and Daniel for the honor of being their family photographer. It's photos like these that remind me of how lucky I am to be a wedding photographer in Atlanta. It humbles me that so many people let me document the milestones in their lives.
