Engagement Photos at the Scenic Piedmont Park Atlanta
This week’s couple is Evangeline and Nathan. They wanted to do an engagement session at Piedmont Park since they live near there and visit the park often. We chose an Sunday afternoon since it was going to be warmer than the chilly, 23-degree mornings we had been having that week.
We met at the entrance to the park by the Magnolia Room, a small wedding venue in the park. We started to walk around to the soccer field past the tennis courts. As we walked I got to learn more about their big Greek wedding! It is going to be held at The Annunciation Cathedral, a Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where the Atlanta Greek festival is held every year. They are such a sweet couple who are really thoughtful and caring. I even got to know how Nathan proposed to Evangeline and their little covid love story!
Evangeline wore a blue spring dress that was the perfect length for a fall engagement session. The dress was just a few inches above her ankles and had a ruffle trim around the bottom edge that gave it personality when it moved. When we walked around, I shared my insight into the history of Piedmont Park since I have been doing a lot of research on this Atlanta landmark recently. I pointed out the historic features of the park. We walked past the original steps to the 1800’s Cotton Exhibition Hall where you could still see the original planters on each side of the steps. We also walked past the original entrance to the park from Piedmont Road that connected the historic neighborhoods to the park. We also took some photos on Oak Hill, the location of the golf course that was part of Piedmont Park long ago.
We made it to all the major photo locations at the park. We ended up at the one location everyone uses, which is the “Skyline Picture Point”. It is a semicircle jaunt into Lake Clara Meer that lines up perfectly to the Atlanta skyline. If you go at certain times of the day it is also lines up with the sunrise and sunset. It was a perfect ending to a great day with a wonderful couple.
