Callanwolde Fine Arts Center | Atlanta Wedding Photographers

One of my favorite wedding venues in Atlanta is Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. When Alyssa and John said their wedding was going to be there we were so excited. Alyssa and John were such a blast we did their engagement photos on Peachtree Street, Fox Theater and Georgian Hotel. All classic Atlanta landmarks which make for a perfect backdrop for photos!

The wedding day started at the Ritz Carlton where the bride, mom and bridesmaids got ready. It was so good to see all the bridesmaids so supportive. It was the command center for the wedding day! I had met the mom during the engagement shoot and it so good to see her again! She had a great time with the girls getting ready and as treated royally! We did detail shots of the rings there. The rings were very tasteful and had engraved double happiness in the inside of them. She also had the very nice gifts for the girls and accents for the venue.

We then went to the Callonwolde for the wedding! Like I said Callonwolde is one of my favorite venues! The center was designed by Henry Hornbostel, who also designed Emory University, Callanwolde’s plan is one of openness. Most rooms adjoin the great halls located on each floor, and the entire 27,000 square foot mansion is centered around a large, courtyard that has recently been enclosed. The attention to fine detail is evident in the excellent craftsmanship of the walnut panelling, stained glass, bronze balustrades, the artistry of the delicate ceiling and fireplace reliefs, and the pierced tracery concealing the Aeolian organ chambers.

Once we were at Callonwolde the crew was busy at work! I was first greeted by the supervisor the family dog! He was sniffing and checking everyone out and like all good leaders a true motivator. He went to each person who dutifully petted him and told him that each station was ready. He went to the dj table got a pet there, then moved to the kitchen walked up to each person who petted him for reinsurance then lastly to the wedding cake which he observed was in place with the correct topper. He let out two quick barks to let everyone know he approves!

The wedding ceremony was held outside in the garden. The day was perfect!!! It was not too hot nor too cold. The guests started to arrive and were escorted to the Amphitheater where the ceremony was being held. Guests could enter from the parking lot of the mansion. Once the guests were seated the wedding party arrived. The bride wore a tasteful white A-line wedding dress and the groom and groomsmen wore the classic black and grey tux. My favorite part of the wedding ceremony is how the couple made it their own. They were two people from different cultures but made a perfect blend traditions and humor. Which made the wedding fun and unique. It certainly reflected their personality.

The reception was held inside the mansion. Where the families got to got together and mingled. They settled in and dinner was served. Once again their dog was the supervisor and went table to table to make sure that each guest was served their meal and to their satisfaction. He was greeted with each table with a pat on the head to let them know that they were happy with his service.

Once the meal was done it was time for the toasts. The bride and groom were so sweet. The bride explained how they meet each other and when she know she was in love! The groom gave his brother and father a good nature ribbing on their toasts. He then gave a very heart felt toast in Chinese to his wife family. Then the father of the bride stood up and gave his toast which was so sweet. You could tell it was a true moment were where he was so proud of his daughter and the family she was bringing together.

It was truly an honor to witness such a special day. As a Atlanta wedding photographer this is what I live for! Unique wedding ceremonies bringing two families together with a historic Atlanta landmark as the background.
