Atlanta Wedding Photographers at Flint Hill
As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I get to shoot at a lot of different wedding venues around Atlanta. There are so many different reasons a couple chooses a wedding venue. The place might mean something to them, or they’re selecting the venue for its beauty or convenience. AtlantaArtisticWeddings recently photographed a wedding at a venue that combined both beauty and convenience: Flint Hill.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Flint Hill is a stunning antebellum home tucked away in Norcross – just a few minutes from Buckhead! The entire property is a wedding venue: the main house has rooms for the bar and the groomsmen’s suite on the first floor and the bridal party suite located on the second floor. Megan and her bridesmaids had a blast getting ready upstairs with champagne and plenty of mirrors to make sure every detail was perfect.
For the ceremony, the guests sat underneath Tivoli string lights on the lawn, and the bride and groom stood just in front of a gazebo. Dinner was served in the ballroom, which features French doors that open onto the lawn and courtyard, where the real party got underway. The open bar and DJ booth were situated to turn the courtyard into a dancefloor – and boy, did they dance! It was so much fun to watch what a great time the entire party had!
There were plenty of places for fantastic photos. A wooden fence along the side of the lawn was strung with lights that created a gorgeous backdrop for fun photos of the guests. There’s an arched, flower-covered walkway next to the house that’s perfect for those intimate, post-ceremony shots of the newlywed couple. And the front of the house is a dramatic location for the shots of the wedding party and the families.
As the wedding photographer, my biggest concerns for a wedding venue are how the light falls and where I should take those magical shots of the couple, the wedding party, and the family post-ceremony. But sometimes, a venue goes above and beyond my expectations. Flint Hill is one of those venues. Everything is taken care of by the venue, from set-up and cleanup, to dinner and drinks, to ensuring the bridal party has enough champagne. If I had a question, the staff was ready with an answer, or would find someone with the answer.
Megan’s wedding planner, Courtney, did a phenomenal job orchestrating the evening and ensuring the night stayed on schedule. She helped me corral guests for photos and would let me know when the major wedding moments, like the cake-cutting and first dances, were about to take place so I could be prepared. She was also stellar at pointing out the important people in the bride and groom’s families, so I could make sure to get a few photographs of them.
Overall, it was a fantastic evening. I could tell that the proficiency of the staff at Flint Hill and Megan’s wedding planner made for a stress-free and fun evening for everyone. I am honored to have photographed such a fantastic couple and fun party! As always, thank you so much for reading my blog and feel free to head over to the contact page and shoot me a line. I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks,
David
