Mackenzie + Bobby
On November 17th, Sarah and I had the pleasure of photographing Mackenzie and Bobby’s fabulous downtown Atlanta wedding affair.
Mackenzie, an urban planner, and Bobby, a JAG lawyer, had met in Florida while both were working on a service project to help people in the area. After several years of dating, Bobby popped the question while the two were visiting Morocco earlier this year.
Though our day started quite early, it was worth every minute we documented. The beautiful bride and her five lovely bridesmaids enjoyed mimosas while having their hair and makeup done at The American Hotel. It was the perfect morning for many shared laughs and memories. And having just as much fun as the ladies, Bobby and his five dapper groomsmen spent the morning getting pampered. The guys woke up early and headed to Classic INTOWN Barbershop for a fresh, old school straight razor shave while sporting their very own wedding day getting ready robes.
Mackenzie and Bobby’s afternoon ceremony was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, which is located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic District. Established in 1912, Our Lady of Lourdes was the first African-American Catholic church in Atlanta. Following the ceremony, we traveled to Centennial Olympic Park for more photos. We captured some pretty great shots of the newlyweds as well as the whole wedding party—some even included a little late fall foliage. It was the epitome of classic Atlanta.
Once we finished at Centennial Olympic Park, we headed to the reception at Ventanas. For those who don’t know, Ventanas is an exclusive event space that offers “dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows which reveal a sweeping view of downtown and midtown Atlanta” as well as 9,547 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. This unique area is located on the Park Pavilion building’s 14th and 15th floors. Before the post wedding festivities began, we took advantage of Ventanas’ spectacular rooftop vantage point. We photographed the couple and wedding party on the helipad as well as returned later for some breathtaking night shots with Atlanta’s glimmering skyline as a backdrop. It was perfect.
There was lots of dancing and good food and drinks and more dancing and fun all around. Overall, it was a marvelous night in downtown Atlanta. Congratulations again, Mackenzie and Bobby!
